Get to know farm animals and see how they live

When you visit a stable, you’ll learn all about farm animals like cows, pigs, poultry, goats, horses and sheep, plus a great deal more. The farming family will explain to you on-site just how important the animals are for looking after the landscape and will show you how they use and care for them. In the Farm Search, you can find out what to expect on the farm that you would like to visit.

Where does our food come from?

Do you pay attention to the origin of the foods that you put in your shopping trolley and the way in which they have been produced? Are you also aware of how and where Swiss foods are produced? An excursion to a farm offering stable visits will give you the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes as far as food production is concerned and will also enable you to ask specific questions about Swiss foods. The farming family will explain the origin of milk, meat and eggs in a readily comprehensible manner and will illustrate clearly where the foods come from and how they are produced.

And spontaneous visits are, of course, possible too. Farms offering stable visits display a “Stable Visit flag”. If you come across a farm with the “Stable Visit flag” on your next stroll or hike, the farming family will be pleased to answer your questions about the farm or on subjects such as biodiversity, animal welfare and the environment.
