Farmers teach (agro-image)

Picking up lunch quickly from a takeaway or meeting at McDonald’s after a lesson – for many young people, this is usually the only point of contact they have with the origin of food and agriculture. But what exactly is in our food? How are the animals kept? Which labels should I look out for? And what impact does my purchase decision have on the climate and environment? The farmers from agro-image reveal all. They come into the classroom, talk about their everyday working life and illustrate this with interesting teaching materials.

Visit on the farm

The project invites pupils of all ages to discover the farm in an active and playful manner. Observe animals, make your own cheese, smell the difference between hay and silage and recognise the connections behind it – all this forms the basis for sustainable learning. School on the farm thus promotes children’s awareness of themselves and of their environment.

agriscuola.ch – the Internet platform of farmers for schools

Picking up a bread roll and salad for lunch from Migros or meeting at McDonald’s after a lesson. For many young people, eating is primarily a necessity. They have few points of contact with the topic of nutrition and the origin of their food. What exactly is in our food? How do the cows live whose milk we find in our fridges at home? Do the vegetables from yesterday’s dinner even grow in Switzerland? And which labels provide which added value? Swiss agriculture answers all of these questions with a variety of teaching materials and learning programmes. From farm visits and flying visits to schools by farmers to posters and teaching materials – there is an offer for (almost) every need!
